Our Managing Director, Peter Damen, will be sharing his insights on engineering the circular economy: from design to decommissioning at an upcoming Engineers Australia online event on 26 November 2024.
Peter will be delving into ways to get better circular economy outcomes during the construction phase, showcasing the use of sustainable materials in road and rail projects. He will discuss collaborative industry mechanisms to fast-track the update of more sustainable materials in roads, railways, and ports, demonstrating how recent initiatives have contributed to reducing environmental impact and promoting circularity in infrastructure development. Other speakers will cover other parts of the design to decommissioning process. Please join us online for this interesting event. More details on the event can be found here https://lnkd.in/gwBiGZ-T Over the past 2 years Level5Design (L5D) has been working closely with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) on updates to a raft of different rail sector construction specifications. L5D has put considerable effort into the review and major update of three construction specifications relating to the use of concrete materials on rail projects across Western Australia, as follows:
We are pleased to announce that these three specifications have now been published on the PTA Vendor Panel and are available for use. A major focus of the updates has been on improving sustainability outcomes in infrastructure projects, and in encouraging the use of low carbon and recovered materials in fit for purpose applications. We hope to see a significant change in more sustainable material use across the transport portfolio and industry as these specifications as rolled out over the coming years. |
